Quite many things in the watch industry celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2009. Among them is Tag Heuer Monaco. On top of bringing back the old, there are also new stuff from the celebration. It kicked off with the re-edition of Calibre 11 which boasted a blue dial, vintage Heuer logo and left-handed crown exactly the same as the original. Then unveiled at the Only Watch auction was Monaco V4, the first belt-driven watch which finally became reality after years of efforts. In between the pair is Monaco LS. Tag Heuer Monaco LS stands for linear second, first appeared on the brand’s Calibre 360 concept watch. Powered by the TAG Heuer Dubois Depraz 2008 movement, the piece can be viewed as a simplified version of Calibre 360. The linear second stands at 3 o’clock on the dial, while at 6 o’clock is lapsed hours and at 9 o’clock a lapsed minutes indication inspired by the dashboard of sports car. The dial also has a date indication at 12 o’clock. The 40.5mm stainless steel piece has a polished and brushed case and is worn on a black alligator strap.
