Porsche Design P’6520 Compass Limited Edition
In 1978, the design expert Ferdinand Alexander Porsche successfully made the first compass watch. This watch gave great contribution to the later watchmaking technology. As the blueprint, Porsche Design improved this legendary timepiece to introduce this new P’6520 Compass Watch. To keep pace with the unique aesthetic demands of the 21st century, designer enlarged its case to 42 mm in diameter. Porsche Design P’6520 Compass Limited Edition is forged by titanium. There are only 911 pieces.
P’6520 uses double-deck design. The upper level is dial with three central hands. The lower level is liquid compass. Porsche Design watch makers equipped the SW300 Sellita automatic movement for P’6520 Compass. Its compass can be used in the south as well as the northern hemisphere. To meet the navigation requirements, designers equipped anti-scratch sapphire crystal glass on back of the upper dial. When wearer opens the upper case, the glass and compass forms a 45 degree angle.
Case and bracelet of Porsche Design P’6520 Compass Limited Edition are both made of titanium coated with black PVD. We know that titanium is free-magnetic material. Therefore, it is the best material to produce compass. Incidentally, the Chronograph 1 introduced by Porsche in 1972 is the first black watch in the world. The black dial has white index and white hour and minute hands. Second hand comes in pink. And date window is at 3 o’clock.
