Gucci Opens Sydney Flagship Store on 1 December and Launches Limited Edition Sydney Collection
Gucci is pleased to announce the opening of a new flagship store in Sydney, Australia. Located in the Westfield Shopping Centre along Castlereagh Street, the store spans more than 7,500 square feet over two floors and boasts a new design concept by Creative Director Frida Giannini.In celebration of the opening, Giannini has designed a Limited Edition Sydney Collection that will be sold exclusively in the Westfield flagship. Paying homage to the Australian flag and the iconic stars of Southern Cross, the collection includes a ladies Boston bag, overnight duffle bag, ladies scarf, wrist wallet, and Australian animal key chains, all in the iconic Gucci GG print. The collection also features a special Gucci Koala, limited to 15 pieces. Sales of the Limited Edition Sydney Collection will benefit the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF), which provides vital assistance to children throughout Australia suffering from abuse.
Giannini’s innovative store design concept, which employs open space, warm luxurious materials and natural light to spectacular effect, is a departure from traditional codified fashion retail spaces, and paves the way for Gucci’s 21st century contemporary look. “I wanted to amplify the luxuriousness of the boutique’s environment and to create an aesthetic, which is complementary to the vision of the House today,” explains Giannini. “This design concept is a modern architectural statement that references the iconic Gucci materials and elements of stores from the past. Everything was carefully chosen to make the design stand out while highlighting the collections in the strongest possible way.”
The ground floor is dedicated to the menswear collection including the introduction of made-to-order suiting, as well as the wide selection of men’s accessories, luggage and small leather goods. The second floor houses the women’s collection including ready-to-wear clothing, handbags, accessories, jewellery, silks and fragrances.
